The Torigoe Shrine Grand Festival began on Friday, June 7.
Tomorrow afternoon, June 8 (Sat.), the procession of portable shrines from each town will finally begin.
On the last day of the festival, Sunday, the 9th, the main portable shrine, known as the “Sengan Mikoshi,” which is the heaviest in Tokyo, will be carried through the streets of each town.
The Torigoe Festival is a held in the area where artisan stores specializing in small leather goods and other items are gathered, as introduced in the “Brooklyn in Tokyo” series on this blog.
