According to the "National New Apartment for Sale Market Trends 2023" released by the Real Estate Economic Institute, apartment sales in the Tokyo metropolitan area declined 9.1% year-on-year to 26,886 units in 2023.
In the Tokyo metropolitan area, Tokyo saw a 7.9% year-on-year increase to 14,191 units, while Kanagawa saw a 19.5% decrease to 5,962 units, Saitama saw a 35.8% decrease to 3,030 units, and Chiba saw a 13.7% decrease to 3,703 units.
The number of units sold increased only in Tokyo.
On the other hand, the price per unit was up 28.8% to 81.01 million yen, and the unit price per square meter was up 28.9% in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Demand for apartments is concentrated in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
